Marana Heritage River Park, is a vibrant community park with baseball fields, a playground, and a farm-themed splash pad. The vertical toy theme is a respectful gesture to the surrounding farming community.
This was the first spray pad constructed in the Town of Marana on the northwest side of Tucson, AZ. Local codes for splash pads are slowly being develop around the United States so as in this case no health code were established for designing a safe water system for the splash pad users. A secondary sanitation ozone generation system was used to provide an extra layer of protection from water borne parasites. Approximately 30,000 gallons of water are saved every day in the summer open season because the water is recirculated into a storage tank verse using drinking water for the pad nozzle supply.
