Hillenbrand Aquatic Center

Originally constructed in 1993, The Hillenbrand Aquatic center got a much-needed newly constructed competition pool for the University of Arizona Men’s and Women’s swim teams. The renovation took place between January of 2018 to the grand opening on February 9th of 2019. The project architect was Architekton, Phoenix Arizona, and the Tucson office of Core Construction was the General Contractor.

The new pool is 213 foot long by 75 foot wide with two movable bulkheads to allow for multiple swimming course layouts for competition swimming events. The new pool received all up-to-date circulation and sanitation systems. The pool circulation system was tied into the University’s hot water loop with titanium heat exchangers. A new equipment room was integrated under the existing spectator seating.
